Final day of Scooter Safety Programme

On our final day on the scooter safety programme we learned that when we pass drive-ways we need to slow down, look and listen.
When we cross a road we need to walk our scooters or lift them.
When we pass other people on the footpath we need to move over and give them some space.

Scooter Safety Programme

We have been learning how to be safe on our scooters.  On our first day we learned two ways to stop safely.
We now know it is best to wear shoes that cover our toes and a helmet is a good idea as well.
We also learned the best place to put our feet.  If we kick the deck then our foot is in the best place at the front of the scooter base.

An update from Room 8:
We are currently learning about statistics and now understand that this is about asking questions and collecting, sorting, displaying and discussing information.  Here is one graph showing people's favourite type of chocolate.  Mmmmmm!

Thursday, 20th February, Week 3

Scooter Education Programme

Next week Room 8 is lucky enough to be taking part in three sessions focusing on scooter safety.  This will be the first time this programme has been run Nelson so we are really lucky!

Students will need to bring:

A scooter - if you don’t have a scooter at home we will have a small number of scooters available to borrow.
A helmet.
Footwear that does not expose the toes.

Please make sure all scooters and helmets are named.

This gear needs to be here Monday 24th, Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th.
